Unless they swapped the rings that isn't a likely scenario. But thank you for pointing it out to me. Matt, One sure way to get your problem, particularly following an overhaul, is the rebuilder mistakenly installing standard chrome rings in chromed cylinders. While rare, it's been known to happen - even by reputable shops. If this is the case with your engine, it'll never break in and oil consumption will rarely, if ever, stabilize. Chrome(d) rings are the standard for a nitrided steel barrel (Lycoming - and probably Cont. as well) but they're definitely not to be used in a chromed cylinder.
