A mechanic friend rebuilt his own engine and had high oil consumption. He went through two sets of cylinders over a couple of months till he remembered that he left out the vacuum pump drive gear to save weight. Forgot to plug the lub oil gallery. Still had good oil pressure, even at idle.

 

Somebody got a good deal on some new cylinders.
