Ultra Leather is fire resistant, enough to be self-extinguishing.  So if you would have left it long enough, the material would have burned away from the hot spot and then gone out. 
 
But...
 
I'm not sure about the foam.  Most foams are fire resistant too.  I would bet your interior guy used high quality fire resistant foam.
 
I ran some tests on the materials in my plane before I installed them.  Individually, they all passed.  Then I built some sandwiches that duplicated the way they'd be installed in the plane and burn tested them too.  Everything passed the test.
 
Maybe a reflective cover for the glareshield similar to a Kennon shade makes sense when the canopy is open.  I remember the factory Legacy having a bunch of burn marks on the glareshield.
