Not wanting to be alarmist but still concerned I would like to add to your
vacuum story. I worked for 10 years as an electrician at an underground
coal mine, where we used compressed air powered venturis/vacuum to suck and
dissipate gasses. One of the most important procedures before operating the
venturi/vacuum was to make sure it is earthed (as you do when refueling)
properly as the builds up static charges which will spark when the potential
is high enough to spark, just as well as an aircraft doe I guess. In this
situation I am not dealing with facts on this application but I would tread
carefully!
