Robert, my initial plan was to use dual LSE
ignition on my TSIO 550 for better starting and to eliminate mag
corrosion. On a turbo engine, I don't believe you will get a cruise
power/economy increase with LSE. I also don't believe you will get a power
loss with LSE, unless plugs are not firing due to a system problem. When I got
nervous about the dependability of the LSE ignition, I was advised by a
very knowledgeable and honorable man to pick ignitions in this
priority.
1. Bendix 1200 (they will not fit on the TSIO
550)
2. Distant 2nd Place was Slick mags
3. LSE ignition
I have done my own homework and decided to go with
Slick mags with the pressure line coming from the pressurized cabin through a
filter. My intent is to sort out the plane with the Slick mags and convert
to Prism when and if it becomes available.
