Great reply, though it's going to cost me some money. ;-)
My problem has always been getting a faired surface with varying surface hardness caused by local filling. I remember the America's Cup guys got around this in the old days by making sure the entire hull was covered by Microlite. As a structures guy I was always livid over the weight but it sure produced a fair hull. (Now, of course, we use female tools and little or no fairing.) Do you recommend the same for an aircraft, covering it completely, then sanding it all off?
