I am planning to build a Lancair Legacy starting in Sept of '06. I plan to spend two weeks building at the factory in September and hope to be finished (famous last words) by the Spring/Summer of '07. One of the unusual things that I am hoping to do is to put a Northcoast "Thermawing" De-Ice system on my plane. This presents a number of challenges including modifying the wings to allow for wiring in the leading edge, fitting a second 100 amp alternator to the engine and getting the Thermawing heating tapes to blend in to the wing shape and not alter the airfoil. Any general thoughts about the overall project, and thoughts about the de-ice would be appreciated.
