I had a similar experience with my Legacy --
everything seemed OK, but nothing happened when I hit the gear
switch. After some (embarassingly long) period of head-scratching, I
realized that when the plane is up on jacks, you have to short across the
squat switch in order for the gear to be activated. Doh! One
of those times you're glad nobody else is around.
Jim,
Yikes! My memory is kaput..... You are correct and that is
a step that should be checked if the gear pump works in the down position but
will not come on when the switch is moved to the up position. I have just such a
setup with a red back lighted push on switch located on the panel and the
lighted label says "Squat Sw Bypass". Many have mounted a switch under the
panel for ground testing, although I like the panel mounted one
that appears in my gear problems emergency check list.
