I am thinking through adding a .020" thick stainless heat shield and cosmetic cover to the exhaust tunnels on my IV-P.  It seems it would be a good idea to mount this cover on some stand offs leaving a .020" or so air gap between it and the fire blanket.  I am considering floxing in PEEK stand offs to minimize heat transfer into the carbon skin.  I always start second guessing myself. Is .020" thick enough?  If I have an air gap, is it going to vibrate on the stand offs and crack?  How far out onto the carbon area should the stainless go?  I am planning on keeping the tailpipe within 1.5" to 2.5" of the fuselage as it angles back and exits.  Comments?
