For our Dynon and the Blue Mountain OAT's we used 4 wire shielded and 3 wire non shielded, respectively. EFIS is on the left rear fuselage access panel and the Dynon is on the left wingtip mounted, facing aft just outboard of the left aileron hinge bracket. Both read within a degree of each other and with a temp probe on my multimeter. These are not thermocouple-type probes. They both are powered by their respective computers @ 5 volts.
Have pictures if you need them.

I have a JPI EDM 900. If I wanted to relocate my OAT probe to another
location, can I extend the wires, special wire? One of the reasons I put it
inside the ram air duct is I wasn't sure if I could extend the wire length without
throwing off the measurement.
