I want my probe to reflect the temperature including the heat of compression. That is the actual temperature at the wings which is where I might ice up.
For example: If an SR-71 is flying at 2,000 mph and its' wings are red hot, it will not ice up, even if the temperature is very cold.

On the RVList it was reported (and confirmed by calculation) that if the
probe is put in a ram air location, the heat of compression at 200 mph
is something like 2-3 degrees, so it will be warmer than ambient.
