About geese, may I remind you a story ,taking place in the middle of the 50's if my memory is right. Once upon a time a NORAD station watched a spot ,on their scopes, coming for Siberia, flying above 30.000 ft but at a speed not corresponding to invader aircrafts. It was the Cold War,so SRAMBLE ,a flight of fighters was aiborn quickly to identify the unknown and guess what they found ?You are right:geese flying at night at about 160 kt GS!!! A further study showed they are able to detect Jetstreams and climb to fly into them to make their trip faster. So,don't be surprised if you cross geese in high FL at night, they just cannot have lighted their position and anti-collision lights, but don't make an Airprox for that. Have nice flights and try to avoid geese as well as other birds, motorised or not . Alain NOIREAUX L 320 F-PSDV
