I am going to remove my mechanical tach from my O-320 to replace it
with a
backup electric AI. Is there a special cap to plug the hole
where the
cable goes into the engine, or is this something that needs to be
"engineered". Thanks.

Chief Aircraft has a cap that screws on to the same threads.
