John,
The marine story reminded me of 'Marion', a cadet who washed out after flying
his SNJ into the trees on takeoff, following the taillight of the plane ahead
at night, which turned out to be the light on a tavern. He calmly exited the
plane when things quieted down, and was picked up by a crash truck which went
looking for him, and found him walking back to the field, holding his seatpack
up.
I wanted to ask about Shannon's crash. Did he stall and fall, or fly into
something immovable, or...?
How fast was he gliding when he landed. Post-crash fire?
Thanks,
Terry O'Neill
