Hamid, You are partly correct. Shannon's flight profile suggests someone who didn't have a clue about how to make an engine out landing. That can be fixed by training. Most pilots I train have never been taught how to glide to a chosen spot and make a successful landing-- unless they have some time in a glider. That said, I agree with everything else you said.
