I concur. I have suggested that pilots write out a set of guidelines for flying. Things you will and won't do. Consider YOUR IFR minimums, your fuel reserves, crew day, etc  We called it Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in the Navy or the Ops Manual in a Part 135 operation. Then stick to your thought out game plan.
