I cannot think of any reason that removing the choke would make it run cooler.  I can think of several reasons not to do that.  This recommendation indicates to me that the A&P does not appreciate what makes the cylinder run hot in the first place.

What I would do is have the cylinder's valves reworked while they are out.  Valve guides reset, stems re-fitted and seats re-ground.  That would be a VERY good idea that will save him a LOT of money in the future.

My friend just bought a 1981 Beech A-36TC with a prop strike that needs to
be torn down for inspection.  200 hours since new.  520 Cont.
The IA he is working with recomends he take the choke out of the cylinders.
He says it will run cooler. What do you think about this?
