I am flying without the the inboard gear doors and I do not find any significant decrease in speed.
 
I spoke to Tim Ong of Lancair at Sun 'n Fun and he told me that Lancair are going to remove them on the Legacy as there is too much complication for very little benefit..
 
He suggested fitting a triangular shaped ramp about a 1/4" high and a base length of 1/2" to 3/4" along the leading edge of the gear opening in the bottom skin to trip the flow and keep the noise down.
 
I was going to make new doors to get them to fit the outback gear but now I will not bother.
