My experience is that when I take the runway, I take about 3 seconds to get to WOT, I'm rotating within another 5 seconds or so.  I don't have time to play with the mixture on the takeoff roll.  I just pick a mixture I know isn't too rich to lose power, get in the air, clean up the plane and then tweak.
