OK, I'll not lean until well below 75% power.

It's OK to lean as you climb--. Leaning to a Target EGT as we recommend works very, very well. If you're interested in that method, go to http://www.advancedpilot.com and download the free sample. It will explain how to do this properly.
 
Since I don't use an air filter, I think you can see that reaching TBO is not my primary objective.

Absolutely. That was not our objective when we raced at Reno either! And, you know what? There's absolutely nothing wrong with that as long as you and I remember that most other pilot's don't share that approach and we should be careful about saying things that could be misunderstood in that light.. <g>
