 Bill,

I'm really glad you asked... I've met another member of the LML and flew to
the Sacramento area to see his airplane. He built his own cowl and made a
number of significant refinements. I've attached a .pdf of his quikie info
sheet. You can also go to http://www.UnleashedAirRacing.com and click on
the sponsor link, and see the cowl and the .pdf file.

Suffice it to say that after meeting Chris (Zavatson), hearing his background
and credentials, and seeing the cowl and his test results... I commissioned
him to build me a set. (In your best game show host voice...) "But wait,
there's MORE!"

It's not just a cowl... He builds a new cowl (plug and vacuum bag), and he
also includes two diffusers, the attaching hardware, a plenum top, a new
(smaller) scoop, and a filtered air box. It is a *slick* setup. The new parts
will take my current setup from:

4.5 inch diameter intakes, baffling, and an cooling outlet size of
(trapezoid) 16 inches (top) 7 inches (deep) and 11 inches (bottom)

 to:

3.5 inch diameter intakes, a significantly smaller exit area, a plenum, and a
stronger cowl attach line and better rigidity. His scoop also tucks the intake
up against the cowl better, and its volumn is a lot less than mine. The inlets
are part of the bottom cowl, while the upper lid is separate.

He also has a landing light tube and cover.

My current setup has the NACA intake on the left cowl side for the oil
cooler. Chris's cooler is mounted on the baffle in front of the #2 cylinder.
I'll be moving mine there, too. *Gotta* be more effecient getting air in the
face rather than through a NACA duct and scat tubing. (Not to mention the
burble of turbulent air being exhausted through the vented outlet.) Overall,
I'll be cutting cooling drag significantly while improving cooling. (Per his
own test results on his airplane, which was running hot... I say this because
I am running a touch cool on CHT and Oil temp, so even if I don't realize
better cooling, I have room to play.) Depending on the outcome, I might even
be able to close off the inlets a bit more.

Chris Z., did I miss anything?
