There is a removable type sealant material that is similar to silicone, but the adhesion isn't as strong that you may be able to use.  It is used as weather striping/sealant material; can be applied to seal doors/windows for winter, but can be stripped off later.  I plan on using it in certain areas in my IVP where I want a seal but do not need structural type adhesion and need future access (inspections etc).  You should be able to find it at most hardware/home improvement outlets.
 
I think it will hold the door seal in place for testing purposes.  The material is cheap and comes in tubes or caulking gun cartridges.
