Greetings,
I am once again toiling over which engine I should choose for my
320/360. My initial choice was an O-360-A1A. I am now leaning toward
the 320 series for better economy, less heat problems and less weight.
Several of you have installed the IO-320-B1A (Twin Commanche engine).
What can you tell me about this engine? It appears that this model
of 320 is readily available on the core market and the price is much
more reasonable that some of the 360s.
Some specific questions on this engine:
o Is this engine more prone to flange breakage as in what
did in the factory 320? Are there lightening holes in the
flange?
o What is involved in moving the injector servo mount from
the rear of the sump to the front? What does it cost to
have it done? Who does this?
o I think this engine comes with Bendix mags -- can it be
converted to use Slick? How about Lasar or one of the
experimental electronic ignitions?
o What Hartzell model prop are you all using with this
engine? Did you buy new from Lancair or used from a prop
shop?
Thanks so much for your responses.
