To add to Scott's comments and to make things even more confusing. My
kit was delivered late 1994 or early 1995. Construction was started using
the Rev 0 11/1/91 320FB manual. It was not completed until 2001 so I suspect it
was completed with the latest infromation. After an incident on the second
flight the plane did not fly again until 3/03 when I purchased it. The
plane was both completed and repaired by a professional shop. It has what
I consider most if not all the latest mods.
Back to RTS (Rat Trap Springs). To make things more confusing Lancair
issued a manual supplement to the 235/320/360 manual for the TRS. It is
titled Over-Center Torsion Springs. The issue date is 5/28/93. What
is interesting is that the assembly drawing shows two WS-6
washers. For some reason the inner WS-6 was replaced with the
larger AN970-6 washer in the 1/23/96 320FB manual. This apears to be the
only change from the supplement.
So the way the springs are assembled depends on the age of your
documentation. While I like older dates on my wine lables. When it
comes to documentation on aircraft assembly younger is better.
