Mike (never has a shortage of opinions),
I agree, that is why the pre-amp terminates in a modern 1/8" jack socket in
the box that used to be the old "ADF" radio. I recently bought the
Sporty's aviation/AM/FM handheld scanner - it uses a patch cord from the 8-ohm
headset outlet to the pre-amp socket - now I can also listen to Rush if I can
find the right AM station whilst in flight.
BTW, the Sporty's is small enough to disassemble and put the parts
into the remaining free space in the old ADF box. All I have to do is
construct a power supply: 12-14 VDC in - 5, 9, and 12 VDC out.

I don't think Sirius has a wee portable yet.
I like XM - just my opinion, of course. I do not like Howard Stern
and the millions Sirius will have to make to pay him - just my opinion, of
course. Say, XM is going to provide the weather that Garmin, et al
are going to use. It is my preference to support such a fee'd public
service - just my opinion, of course.
