I recently bought the Sporty's aviation/AM/FM handheld scanner - it uses a patch cord from the 8-ohm headset outlet to the pre-amp socket - now I can also listen to Rush if I can find the right AM station whilst in flight. BTW, the Sporty's is small enough to disassemble and put the parts into the remaining free space in the old ADF box. All I have to do is construct a power supply: 12-14 VDC in - 5, 9, and 12 VDC out.
