Do valve stems vary in length between tube brands? I don't remember having problems with the original tire/tube combination. Ever since then it has been a issue. The plastic wheel covers have also been prone to cracking at the screw holes. It might be time for some composite replacements. Chris Zavatson N91CZ 360 std.
