 Chris,

I'm ready.  I have operated with the teflon spagetti long enough  (installed
after some wear on the hinges).  I have loose hinges  everywhere.  I have a
weird vibration that could be the elevator.  I  bought slightly larger
stainless
wire but I could not get more than 1 inch of  the teflon on it.  Then I
bought SS wire larger than ordinary hinge  pins.  Since it was coiled, I
could
never get it straight.  It  provided a nice tight fit but the curve in the
wire
meant the hinge was very  stiff and jumped because the curved wire acted like
a  spring in the ovoid  holes.

I'm ready to ream. From memory, I think the longest hinge is about 10" so
the chuckable ream has to be at least 6 inches if not the better length of 11

inches or more.  Now, where the devil do I get one of those?  Did you  clamp
the hinge and use a slow turning lathe or did you do it by hand?  Can  you
point
me to a web site for the ream?

[I have recommended my friend, Paul Kawka, at Swift Saw & Tool in Hazel Crest, IL as an excellent source for cutting tools and abrasives here quite a few times in the past.  Everyone that has dealt with him has always taken the time to send me a note of appreciation... says a lot about the guy.  Anyway, I spoke with him this evening about these, but he didn't have his reamer catalog handy (after hours) so we're going to talk about it in the morning.  Given the small diameter of this reamer, a typical OA length would be about 3.5"... however, if they are available in longer lengths, he'll know.  I'll post the results of tomorrow morning's conversation here tomorrow night.  If you can't wait that long, you could call him yourself (after about 10AM) at 708-335-0550.  Use my name... that oughta be good for the 2X discount <g>.   <Marv>           ]
