The cowls on my bird have hinge pins everywhere; along the sides, along the rear sides of the bottom cowl, and along the rear top of the top cowl.

 

My next project (Legacy) may use the Fairchild Livelocks.  They are installed/removed with an Allen wrench, are very compact, work forever, really grip, look great, and are really expensive.  I have used them elsewhere.
