Yes, it is stuck on with with "Velcro".  The "Velcro" is needed to provide some assurance that the door doesn't fall "in" during taxi and take-off and before reaching sufficient altitude where the differential pressure to hold it shut.

If it was closed from the inside, it is not stuck on with "velcro". A 20" x 25" door with 5 psi would have 2500 pounds of force holding it shut. The velcro just makes you "feel" better  ;).
