Hi Dane
Good luck on the plane and the boat. You didn't say what you need to do on the boat but believe me, 300 hours is really easy to use up! I just got through a major redesign and repair of my 37' all carbon boat and I actually spent more time in the repair than when I first built it, (2650 hrs vs. 2850 rounding off). Having built many, MANY boats, (and having designed and raced them), I can tell you that composite construction is basically easy but there are a tremendous number of tricks and that the decision on many things is not how to do some task but selecting from the myraid ways of doing them like mold/no mold/throw away foam plug, wood plug, etc.
But it is all fun and if the goal is to enjoy the building and ending up with an airplane, you'll have a great time.
