When I first started flying my ES I used "Experimental" for the call up. Many of  the airports I frequented asked what kind of experimental it was. Probably to ensure they sequenced me correctly. I have now dropped Experimental and use Lancair with N number. Sometimes they confused it with a Lance, and are probably confused when they see the speed difference.  I also provide LNCE for approaches, flight following, etc, since it is required. Once they asked if I was a Columbia, but I advised it was an ES.

Seems to me that  since Lancairs are becoming well known, the controller would be  better served by understanding the speed he/she has to deal with. I have not had a problem using Lancair vrs Experimental.
