When I first
had my 235, I had a fire while trying to start the engine due to a stuck carb
float needle. I jumped out with my little cockpit halon bottle and
found the nose wheel and strut were covered with flames. The halon
instantly extinguished the flames and I squirted the rest up the slot behind the
nose strut. Everything was cool so the fire did not re-ignite.
The only damage was soot on the engine and mount. If I hadn't had the
extinguisher, it would have been an entirely different
story.
