In the early days of the new control center at Edwards, we had problems with the fire suppression system.  It kept going off unexpectedly, flooding the control center (full of computers) with Halon.  We'd patiently sit through it.  Our instructions were to not move around rapidly, but to just sit still and relax until it was purged.  I don't _think_ it affected me adversely.

Halon is just as deadly, if not more so, as is CO2 to humans in a
  crew compartment since it removes oxygen.
Not quite true - In any event it anesthesizes - OK by me if I am also going to burn up.....
