Napa CA (APC) October 28
In 1997, I decided that what was
missing from my life was an experimental aircraft. I asked my family if they
would mind very much if I spent every night and weekend minute crafting the
perfect four place pressurized carbon fiber aircraft. They said
no. So Father's Day 1998, I unpacked the "A" part of my kit and
began. Realizing the considerable task ahead, I was aided by the talented Rich
Pennisi.
I made several decisions over the years
which lengthened the time it took to build the plane, but at this point I regret
none of them. I built the plane at my house, enabling my family to have contact
with me even if I was working on the plane. I decided on some new
technology (FADEC) which made the "experimental" mantel even more appropriate to
my project.
On October 28, 2004, my airplane was
guided into the sky by the capable hands of Phillip Grice. The airplane
flew beautifully and the FADEC engine performed superbly. I am
delighted to share the happy news with all of you. There was a small group of
family and friends at the airport watching, but sharing those moments in spirit
were all of you who have helped and encouraged me to make this day
happen. I would like to thank everyone I have met along this journey
who offered support and encouragement. This project became more than an
airplane for me and my family. It generated new
friendships, adventure, travel, and a sense of accomplishment far beyond my
expectations.
I have received a lot of very
special support from these companies and their representatives. These
individuals have gone over and beyond "the call of duty" and I would
highly recommend their services to anyone building an aircraft. I am
honored to have worked with you.

I dedicate the first flight to Jack
Hickham. Jack was one of the very first builders I met, and his unwavering
optimism and enthusiasm were very inspirational to me.
