I second that wise recommendation. For a IVP first flight, a 5000 foot runway at sea level would be about the minimum I would recommend for risk management purposes. I flew mine out of Spirit (7000') and we did several high speed taxis up to rotation speed before the fuel flow, MAP and RPM were finally adjusted to the proper limits.
