Joe and all,
Years ago I purchased a Schauer Model DX-5
which has served me well. For five years it worked at my shop in
Goleta for Pacific Aviation (we were up to 20 airplanes as a flight
school). Thru all my abuse it hasn't faltered yet. It is a 6-12-24
volt 10 amp unit and seems perfect for the homebuilder. It is a
constant voltage charger and therefore must be monitored when used on lead acid
batteries of any type. It will not do trickle mode or constant
current for NiCads. Get on Froogle on it and see if you can
find one. The price is right.
Good luck,
Walter Dodson IV-P 90Y (owner finally
taking the airplane home to Chicago, he may still learn how to enjoy
it).
