Ray,
I fly with an IO-360 in my Beech Sierra and hot starts are a problem. The
reason is that this engine floods extremely easily when it is hot.
The solution is to open throttle all the way, close the mixture and crank
until it starts. when the engine is just warm, it usually starts easily
with throttle at idle and mixture rich.
