I have a quote of $600 for each front seat and I think $800 for the back seat from an aircraft upholstery shop.  This is using Contra Foam and Ultra Leather.

The local auto upholstery shop that does a lot of show cars and is doing my interior says they can do the front seats for $250 each, same design and I supply

the materials.  I’m also reluctant to send the seats out since I would have to make a crate to ship them in.

I understand Contra Foam can make a seat bottom considerably more comfortable using a blue and green layered sheet about 2 ½” thick.  However, it will

Cost about $250 for both seats with enough left over to do four more seat bottoms.

I would greatly appreciate any input on the subject.  My questions are:

Is Contra Foam the way to go anyway?

How thick should the blue versus the green layers be?

What kind of foam is best for the seat backs and how thick?

Any advice for foam on the back seat?

Thanks,    Scott T.
