Re: oil air separator/Nomex fuel lines

I have the same one, though I haven't flown with it yet. To Gary's
comment, one of the guys on the RV list suggested using a flycutter to open up an approximately 2" dia hole in the front face. Then stuff that hollow space with stainless steel pot scrubber material

Has anyone used the $ 35 oil air separator listed in the spruce catalog?
Is it effective?<<<

I looked and looked for stainless steel "Brillo" pads. I could only find them at one place in the world. A pittsburgh, PA based company that will only sell online. The problem is that they only sell in $100 increments. I had to buy 8 dozen. They come in 2 sizes. I think for our purposes that either size is satisfactory.

I didn't want to use copper pads because of the following quote:

"When I was in A&P school I had to build an aluminum wing rib as a project. As an experiment I asked a commercial fisherman friend of mine to toss it in the bow of his boat for a week. The result was almost no corrosion. I took it back and riveted a copper penny to it and sent it back to the bow of the boat. A week later the rib was badly corroded, particularly between the penny and the aluminum.

Hope everyone finds this useful.

Ted Stanley - A&P-IA"

You can see and or order these pads in $100 increments at:

   http://www.keysan.com/ksufl16a.htm#PAD099956897223

The pads are part#  PAD35 and PAD50

I am using 2 of the sponges to rap around my exhaust inside of the heat shroud. I am trying to pick up as much heat as I can for my cabin and carburetor.

I would like to sell the rest of the pads in 12 packs. The price of the 12 pack will be $20 + $10(FedEx) = $30. Of the 12, 8 will be PAD35s and 4 will be PAD50s. I don't think that you will need more than 2 of either one of the pads. I just don't want to ship out 1 at a time. If you want to sent me your FedEx or UPS account number, you can pay for the shipping. I take cash, checks, MOs, MC, Visa and Discover. Send your address and charge card number with the order and I will mail the same day or the next.

Bill, you pads are in the mail.
