hi Jim,
I have the opposite problem on my ES (TSIO-550E). I typically see oil temps around 150' when it is cool/cold out (I use the oil cooler door to bring them up a bit), and not more than 180' in the summer. However, I have the Dolly Pardon IV cowl. As it seems to be with most IV/ES's with the 550, number 2 has the hottest CHT, however I plan to swap out for Lancair's new oil cooler door mod at annual in May, which should help a lot.
I assume that the new owner is not leaning on climb out, right? Is the fuel pressure/flow set up where it has to be? I believe the manual says to readjust the fuel pressures after the first 50 hours. This has to done by someone who knows what they are doing, and has the equipment to do so.
No problems with my four blade MT prop either. Everything was precisely German in manufacture, and is working fine.
