The brake mod for the L-IVs that we have been using for quite some time simply uses an aluminum closeout cap bonded to the top of the gear leg. The cap is machined to fit down into the gear leg slightly, it is drilled and fitted with a machined standard brass Nyla-Flow brake line fitting. A stainless braided flex line runs from a 90 degree fitting in the top of the cap and the other end is secured to the side of the gear box with an Adel clamp. After building Lancairs for close to 12 years I have never seen a brake failure caused by the plastic line inside of the gear leg, as it is well protected. Even when the brakes got so hot that the tires were burned from the heat of the discs. Although this did cause a temporary brake failure, the Nyla-Flow line was fine. The brake line failures I have seen and have had, were caused by the Nyla-Flow being pinched or kinked at the top of the gear leg. We have this brake mod for sale if anyone is interested. Attached are some older photos, the parts are now gold anodized. Mike Custard
