Hmm,

Well you had better add to Scott Kruger's fine list:

Cost of 550 Engine Top Overhaul at 350 hours instead of 1500 Hours:  $9000

Cost of instrumentation or parts that go awry early:  $40/hr

Cost of rebuild of airframe and loss of use when some club member does something stupid:
$25000++

Lawyers Fees fighting club member's widow's lawsuit:  $100,000+

Please excuse me for appearing to be negative--I fly a LIV, I it scares the hell out of me to think that one would be available to novices in a club setting.

It glides like a stone; it must be continually kept on top of; it is not a platform for a novice doing IFR;  and these are only three things that will dump it.  To be even VFR proficient in it, it should be flown 1-2 hours a week.

As an aside to the question, I think my personal per-hour cost is at least $200, and I am nursing cylinders that started to poop at 250 hours.

Again, sorry to be so negative--some times I just can't help myself!
