The inspector must issue the airworthiness certificate if your paperwork is in order, it looks like it might get off the ground, and you generally use (not required) aircraft accepted practices (deadly if the guy is old enough to apply pre-1970 standards). Only you should be able to determine if "safety" is an issue. This is, after all, freedom of expression. Every Region is different. Use a DER! Think about your own safety and realize that you can do a better job that FAA "recommendations." You can do better than mil-spec, too. Hydro pump - use a wire that can carry the amperage. Strobe wires - Whelen knows what it is doing... Toxic fumes - think more about CO and upholstery materials. Remember that the current rating of wires is reduced when thay are gathered in bundles.
