Also the outside of the tires wears more than the inside. I decided to change my tires and, based on my mechanics suggestion, I took off the axles and turned them upside down to see if they were bent. The axles sere not bent. The gear leg castings were bent inwards about 3 degrees. I received my new gear legs today ($98.00 each) and put them on. Whoops! The axle holes are not in the same place. The center gear door uses these axle holes for its bottom 2 mounts. Also there is no whole in the gear casting for the top mounting bolt. The way I see it, I will have to retract the gear and then, while holding the center door in place, drill the top hole. While the top whole holds the middle gear door in place. I will extend the gear and from the tire side, re-drill the holes in the center gear door attachment bracket. That is, If I can. Of course Lancair is closed for the holidays so new attachment brackets are out of the question, at least until the middle of next week. I was soooo... frustrated when I found this out. Had I known that I would have to refit these doors in an unheated hanger at 25 degrees, I would probably have put the fix off until the summer. I would like to thank Sue Harrelson for telling me to go home, think about the problem and request suggestions from our mailing list. If anyone has a suggestion on another way to solve my problem, the help would be greatly appreciated. TIA, -- Lorn H.
