The following photos are of the 1/4" clearance between my tires and landing gear castings. The top of the castings has even been polished because of the tight fit. The tires are also wearing on the outside and the gear legs are straight down.
I had a hard landing last year. The landing gear that the castings attach to had been bent and has been changed. The castings themselves and the axles have not been changed.
What is the proper clearance? Would someone please venture a guess as to what might be bent. That is, if anything at all is bent. I can't get a precise enough angular reading to determine if anything is bent at all.
Lancair thinks that the cast, or at least what appears to be cast, can be bent. To me the casting looks like it can't be bend. Any comments are welcome.
Left Clearance.
