Subject: [LML] LNC2 exhaust
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed"

Byron,

My exhaust is fixed rigidly to the back of the engine. I have an
IO-360 with the forward-facing fuel-servo sump modification, so I
have the threaded holes on the back of the engine where the servo
would otherwise have been mounted. I used one of these for the
support, which is a steel strap about 1 in. wide and 1/8 in. thick. I
made the strap in two pieces which overlap halfway between the sump
and the pipes. I used two 10-32 bolts at the overlap. (I could have
made it as a single piece, but I thought it would be easier to adjust
the overall length of the strap as the final step using the overlap.)
The bottom of the strap is bent parallel to the top pipe and tapered
a bit in width towards the tip. The edges are also rounded off. I
placed a 1/2 in. thick piece of steel between the pipes which is
shaped to fit perfectly between the pipes with the proper radius on
both ends. I then have hose clamps clamping both pipes and the strap
together -- three or four of them I think. Sorry I don't have a
digital picture I can enclose, but I don't think I am the only one
with this setup. Maybe someone else will have one.
