Had the same problems with the WX 500 in a Lancair IVP, except the strike cluster was in the 10 and 2 o'clock position. We skin mapped the airplane and the best position was off the airplane out board of the horizontal stabilizer. The second best position was on the left or right wingtip. This has not been tried as yet due to problems running the cable through a hole that is too small for more cables.
