I just got the impression from Brent that the CFS IDU's don't need to be behind an AV Master (due to their meeting DO160), but that's not what I was told when I bought them by LA and the rep at CFS I spoke with. I'd love to get rid of the AV master, as I don't like its added failure modes (though the convenience is nice), but I didn't think it was an option. And you should be able to monitor your engine "while cranking" and have indications such as oil pressure immediately.
