The key is fuel flow. The duel is not about engine life at the proposed settings, it is only about performance to 12,000 FT. George also knows that for me 30" MAP is loafing. I run at much higher MAP settings when I am testing the Supercharger system. I need to know how long things will last and how hard the Supercharged engine can be pushed. This duel needs to be done by professionals. Note: " Do not try this at home it may cause cancer in rats" George, the whole thing started with Josh opening his mouth, making derogatory, incorrect and misleading statements about supercharging. I am willing to prove my point with real numbers not just misinformed statements by a Lancair factory representative. Josh should have paid attention to the old saying, " If you can not say anything nice __________" especially if you work for the factory. Here is a ship of one of the e-mails sent to me from the Copperstate Air Show. snip>Rick, I was at Copperstate last week talking with Josh and a couple potential Legacy customers when Josh stated several times that the normally aspirated Legacy will beat the supercharged one below 12,000'. He worked pretty hard to convince this customer (who just wants to go as fast as possible) that he shouldn't supercharge -- not worth it. Not sure if Josh has something against supercharging or if he is just confusing the fact that a normally aspirated Legacy will beat a IV-P at the lower altitudes. For me, I just lost faith in the new crop of Lancair employees. I notice that Tim and Josh went quiet all of the sudden. Maybe they are not willing to back up their claims. I would not like to win because they are not willing to show up.
